Hereford Craft Fair 9.12.2012

As part of our attempts to raise money for new designers, Penny (ratsasbigascats.blogspot.com) organises for us to be part of a craft fair in Hereford high town, although i couldn't be there to man the stall because I was working, i did make some work for it, and £170 was raised towards our stall at new designers...here are some pictures...

Made By Hand 2012

So last week I was asked by Del if she could take some of my work (as well as many other people's off the course) to made by hand in newport, wales. Here are some pictures of the work I made for her to take. I'm really happy to be making finished "things".

Laser Cutter...

The college have finally bought a laser cutter, and i took the oppurtunity to have a go when the workshop was quiet... it's all very exciting.

 

 

 

Max Suffield....

So this post is a tad bit delayed, but we came back to college in October to find that Max Suffield had been made redundant, which seems completely unfair and unreasonable considering the cost of tuition fees and how central Max was to everyones practice, but thats another story... As a way to say thankyou to Max for his continued support, advice and honesty over the past 2 years I made him a piece of work, and bought him a pint of course.

Feeling a bit lost today....i don't want to be a product designer...why can't i just make nice things :/

Andy Warhol

...even though I've seen Andy Warhols work "in the flesh" in Paris, and have always liked his work, i've never been that inspired by it to be completely honest. Not that i don't like it, it just has never related to my work...but today i have discovered his early work as an illustrator and I've got to say I really love it...particularly this piece which features numbers, as this is something i have been considering in my own work lately, stemming from the number "13" but more about that at another time.

 Some of this other early work is good too...

been very productive today, lots of work and ideas for work coming together. My work is very emotionally draining since it became so self indulgant, but i'm very happy with the direction its going in... here are some pictures of my desk...

i recently aquired some beautiful fabric from penny (ratsasbigascats.blogspot.com) and made myself a cushion and have another still to make... my new typewriter also arrived and it is so lovely.

3rd year...

so today has been a productive day all in all...managed to finally download word onto my laptop...without a working disc drive (yay for technology), also started THE dreaded word document (dissertation) okay its only the title for now, but its a start, wrote my project proposal and started the business plan...also started my research and skethbooks...yay for productivity :)...oh also played around on my typewriter and ordered some new books :)
